Efficient refining agent
Aluminum alloys are increasingly used in a wide range of industries due to their excellent properties. Currently, the aluminum alloy application market is fiercely competitive, while the quality requirements are constantly increasing, the profit is reduced. In addition to the national environmental requirements for clean processing and energy consumption reducing in the aluminum industry, there is an urgent need to continuously improve the existing production processes, carry out technological innovation to promote aluminum production towards the direction of environmental protection, high efficiency, low consumption and more convenience.

In the aluminum alloy melting process, since Al has strong chemical activity, defects such as impurities and gases are easily generated. The impurities are distributed inside the alloy after smelting and solidification, which has a great influence on the properties of the alloy. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of the aluminum alloy, the oxidized impurities and gases in the melt must be completely removed, therefore, the refining operation and the selection of the refining agent are crucial.
In recent years, the gas-flux mixed blow refining method (also called single-tube blowing type refining method), shown as below, is the most commonly used method for refining aluminum alloy melt. This method is easy to operate, easy to master and safe with low cost. Moreover, the deficiencies in the inert gas blow refining method can be effectively eliminated, and the surface of the bubble after the aluminum liquid is blown can be surrounded by the molten flux (refining agent), and the oxide film cannot be formed and hydrogen gas can be generated. In addition, even if oxides are formed, they are wetted and adsorbed by the flux (refining agent), and at the same time, they are entrained with bubbles, such as impurities and hydrogen which have been wetted and adsorbed, and are lifted up to the liquid surface, thereby effectively improving the refining effect.
Although the gas-flux mixed blow refining method features many advantages in long-term use, it also produces different effects due to the choice of flux (i.e., using the refining agent).Traditional refining agents always cause incompletely refining, and various defects affect the quality of the alloy, and often cause additional burning of aluminum during the melting process due to problems of the refining agent.
Take KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent product as an example to illustrate its unique and high-performance in toxin free, environmental protection, high-efficiency and loss reduction:
I. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent is scientifically formulated using national invention patent technology, and is capable of avoiding the reaction with the aluminum liquid in the first place.
KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent only acts physicochemically, physically or mechanically with gases and solids non-metallic impurities in the melt to achieve degassing and impurity eliminating effect, and to ensure that it does not chemically react with aluminum. The refining process does not cause additional burning of aluminum. Since the refining agent itself has a chemical reaction with the aluminum liquid, it is a common defect of the traditional refining agent in degassing and removing the impurities, which has not been considered by users, and economic loss caused by aluminum burning due to refining has also been neglected.
II. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent has the following excellent properties:
1. Less flue gas. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent does not contain toxic substances such as hexachloroethane and carbon tetrachloride, does not produce harmful gas chlorine, and does not generate flue gas due to violent reaction. It is a smokeless refining agent;
2. Without temperature rise. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent does not raise the temperature during refining. The refining agent does not chemically react with the aluminum liquid during use, that is, it does not often cause an exothermic reaction like the traditional refining agent, therefore, it doesn't burn the aluminum liquid which may release a large amount of heat to raise the temperature of tens of tons of aluminum liquid in the furnace, even it can reduce the temperature slightly, which is because the gas introduced causes the temperature of the aluminum liquid to decrease;
3. Less aluminum ash. The use of KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent can significantly reduce the aluminum ash after refining. The reduction of aluminum ash is not the failure of removing impurities and hydrogen in the aluminum liquid during refining. On the contrary, the result shows the aluminum liquid is more pure and the aluminum liquid has lower hydrogen content from the tests by the customers. The aluminum ash is significantly reduced and the quality of the aluminum liquid is better. It also shows that the KPR-608 refining agent does not chemically react with the aluminum liquid to form various compounds and increase the amount of aluminum ash, which not only reduces the workload of the workers to remove the slag in front of the furnace, but also reduce the environmental impact of aluminum ash;
4. Reduced burning during refining. By using a variety of traditional refining agents and KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent for burning loss comparison, the use of KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent can reduce the burning loss caused by refining by 0.2%-0.4%.
III. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent has good refining effect.
Another reason why KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent has good refining effect is that KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent has better fluidity and can form continuous coating on the surface of aluminum liquid, and does not dissolve with aluminum liquid. There is no miscibility with aluminum, which leads to the impurity of aluminum alloy refining agent. After oxidation, the aluminum alloy does not have the common white corrosion point of traditional refining, which ensures the excellent quality of the aluminum alloy.
IV. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent has stronger refining ability
The scientific and reasonable preparation of KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent has a significant difference between the specific gravity of it and the aluminum liquid. The refining agent has a stronger ability to remove impurity and is easier to float. It can completely remove non-metallic impurities and gases in the melt and purify the aluminum liquid. It is well separated from the alloy liquid, and the slag is loose and light and easy to remove, with stronger refining ability.
V.KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent does not corrode the casting equipment or stick tothe furnace and tools owing to its scientific and reasonable formula, which provides easy operation for the production workers.
VI. KPR-608 high-efficient refining agent reduces the production cost, ensures the refining effect and responds to the government's call on clean production, energy conservation, environmental protection and consumption reduction. The product is non-toxic and pollution-free, and has passed the SGS Test, meeting the requirements of RoHS Directive.

(Note: Hexachloroethane has the anesthetic effect on the central nervous system and damages the liver and the kidney; mild irritation to the skin and mucous membranes. After ingested orally, it will cause dizziness, vomiting, liver pain, increased blood bilirubin, slow heart rate, nephritis and anuresis.
